On this day exactly five years ago I registered mepeace.org and MEPEACE was born.
Today I became a father. We named our baby daughter Love.
Here we shine a light on 5 women, 5 men and 5 organizations inspiring peace.
PEACEMAKERS:

Contribution - Dr. Gershon Baskin
This year's "Contribution - The pen is mightier than the sword" Award, is earned by MEPEACE Board Member, Dr. Gershon Baskin, for:
1. The key role in the exchange which freed 1,000 prisoners and returned Gilad Shalit
2. 'Encounter Peace' - Gershon continuing weekly column at the Jerusalem Post
3. Current book-writing as the new Chair of the Board at IPCRI
Leadership - Dr. Taleb Al Harithi, Hagit Ofran, Dr. Stephen Eric Bronner
These three individuals are recognized for their inspired leadership:
Dr. Taleb Al Harithi - Leading Palestinian geologist and ALLMEP board member
Hagit Ofran - Courageous leader overcoming threats and obstacles in mapping settlements
Dr. Stephen Eric Bronner - Author and Distinguished Professor of Political Science at Rutgers University
Innovation - Lejla Mavris
Lejla is recognized for her innovation and entrepreneurial spirit for peace. Lejla was recommended by Nicholas Tomb, President of the board at Global Majority which Lejla co-founded
Promise - Muayad Khaled Abu Awwad
Muayad represents what is possible: having been physically injured in the conflict, he shows the bright-light promise of optimism, clear-thinking and inspired leadership.
ORGANIZATIONS:
Possibilities - The Peace and Collaborative Development Network (PCDN)
Khaled Hassanin from Cairo, Egypt, found mepeace.org on the PCDN and recommended. PCDN was created by Dr. Craig Zelizer in 2006.
Innovation - All for Peace Radio
All for Peace Radio is led by Maysa Baransi Siniora and MEPEACE board member Mossi Raz. All for Peace radio station's Hebrew frequency was forced to go off air in November 2011. Innovatively, the radio took to the internet at allforpeace.org.
Education - The Best Plans - Education for Peace
The Best Plans Project is helping Israelis and Palestinians win support for peace plans. Best Plans Project offers practical hope for conflict resolution.
Initiative - EcoME and PRV-ME
EcoME Centre - a pioneering grassroots project taking a unique holistic approach to peace work, modeling environmental, social and personal sustainability in a multi-cultural context, amidst conflict.
PRV-ME - Peace Research Village Middle East
PRV-ME is a model a positive global transition through the development of research centers and communities with peace culture.
