Event Description

The topic of our third MEPEACE Chat Workshop will be

New era in media: Information, interaction or both - What do we really need?

We invite the participants to once more revisit the topic of communication and media, this time with a special focus on new media, such as MEPEACE itself.

As members of MEPEACE and, possibly, other WWW-based platforms, we all see how new media change the ways we inform ourselves. We see that not only information, but interaction, too, is a crucial aspect of new media. We have become readers and editors at the same time - and interact globally.

The scope of these (quite recent) changes makes it appropriate to talk about new media, the way we use them, the way we don't (or not yet) use them, their future, and the requirements for making them sustainable.

The leading questions for this event will be

Why do we choose platforms such as MEPEACE except for getting informed which was the traditional media's service we recently abandoned?

How does the wider public regard new media? Have we already become part of the 'mainstream media'?

Please note that the event will start on Sunday, 17 January 2010 at 20.00 Israel/Palestine time (GMT + 2).

If you have any questions regarding the event, please don't hesitate us to contact us on

Looking forward to seeing you in the third Chat.

there are 2 distinct chats, and the one you're referring to is the Volunteer chat and not our last Chat Workshop.

Tonight there'll first be our Chat Workshop (topic: new media/social media) at 20.00, after that (at 21:30) our Volunteer chat, a chat session for all volunteers.

You're invited to both sessions. Please join in time, however, as otherwise you'd probably miss important content.

Looking forward to see you tonight..

hope we'll see you in our next event. As to a report of the last one..we sent these summaries to the participants. Unfortunately you haven't participated. But we'll ask the participants for their consent to publicize the summary. For data protection reasons, they all will have to agree. If this is the case, the summary of the second chat workshop will be made public in
