SUMMARY:MEPEACE Event - September 11
DESCRIPTION:130+ peacemakers participated in the MEPEACE Iftar and Sha
 bbat Dinner on September 11.\n\nThanks to all who came and all who wan
 ted to be there. Special thanks to Anas Neiroukh, Tamar Freed and the 
 others who organized this event.\n\nPeople arrived from Nablus, Jerich
 o, Ramallah, Beit Jalla, Hezma, Hebron, East and West Jerusalem, Haifa
 , Tel Aviv... We also had people from the US, Germany, France, Cypus, 
 South Africa and Australia.\n\nBeyond the Middle East, this event rece
 ived media interest from Italy, Denmark, the US, the UK, Spain and Chi
 na. We want to communicate that people of all faiths can come together
  for peace.\n\nPeople arrived early and got to know one another. Dinne
 r began with the end of the Ramadan fast day. A wide variety of tradit
 ional foods was served and guests sat and mingled at one huge intercon
 nected table.\n\nThe program began after the meal. After welcoming rem
 arks and thanks to the team, Eyal Raviv presented MEPEACE and what is 
 possible. After sharing his personal memory of September 11th, we shar
 ed a moment of silence commemorating the tragedy, honoring the victims
  of that day and of our conflict, and reflecting on the peace we have 
 and can have.\n\nThe education program followed with a discussion of t
 he Iftar and Ramadan, and questions and answers from the crowd. A disc
 ussion of Shabbat followed. Information sheets were distributed with t
 he customs and traditions in Arabic, English and Hebrew.\n\nEveryone i
 n the room voiced his/her voice with an introduction of name and birth
  month. 130+ voices were heard and we concluded by singing Happy Birth
 day to Lisa, in Arabic, Hebrew and English. The songs we share in comm
 on symbolize our shared striving for peace.\n\nThank you for participa
 ting in our event and for supporting us even if you could not be there
