I'm sorry I missed last night's chat, but I can tell you where I was that day. I was watching NYPD Blue on Star World on Orbit, when the news broke that a "small plane" hit the North Tower of the World Trade Center. I called my parents in so that they could see for themselves. None of us could believe what had just happened or how.  It was on  a sunny Tuesday afternoon in Jordan when I heard the news, not to mention that I got a call from a neighbor who asked how one of my sisters was doing and wasn't she supposed to be at a conference in NY? No, the trade show was in Massachusetts and it was about tourism development.

My beloved husband Michael died on 11.9.1994; so as every year I spent the afternoon with my lovely mother in law today she is 99 years old; the TV set was open, we could not believe our eyes and ears; then I went home found my youngest son(my daughter already lived in Tel Aviv, my elder son was in the army) very upset watching alone the unbelievable;near the TV set was a picture of dad and a candle;having his dad'd sense of humor suddenly Yuval asked me: ima, could'n;t they choose an other day? This was my fathers special day, now everyone will be sad on 11.9.

On that day I was guiding a youth delegation in the former German extermination camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau. We heard about the terrible terrorist attack while walking nearby the remaining of the gaz chambers.
I remember one of the students making a comment that a that horrible place during the years 1942-1944 every single day was like few 9/11 attacks, if you only compare the amount of innocent people that were killed on a regular basis there.
Terrifying thought!

On that day I was in my office working when my wife rang and told me to put the TV on and see what was happening in New York. I did and could not believe. I thought it was a film but no, it was really happening. Two days later I had to attend a meeting in Porto. I took the plane via Paris Roissy. At Roissy I saw such a queu and I asked someone why was the long queu for. He looked at me as if I came from another Planet and said if I have not heard of what happened in New York, I felt ashamed and queued up like everybody else. Then they called my plane for Porto and I made my way theough the long queue and could get on the plane. I think a lot of people felt like me, noboby could realise that such a thing could really happen in the USA.

I'll try to attend this one because I remember where I was on that day. It was a tough time for everyone all over the world, not just the families of the people who were killed on that day.
