What are your thoughts 'Future of Palestinians and Israelis'?
Do you have constructive ideas of how we as a community can contribute to change?

Lately some members were investing on promoting their one-sided view of the conflict, in many ways it is not what mepeace.org come to serve as we have so many one-sided sites such efforts just make members who are not in their one-side feel rejected.

As we are all here, no borders can we put aside our historic analysis and who is right who is wrong wisdom and bring in the how can we live together in one future wisdom?

a state is a tool to serve society, we have jewish society and arab society here and with all the pains of the past and present we need a governance structure and a state structure to serve all.

here is some of my thoughts:
We have two societies with very different world view, as the majority of the people are good people with good cooperative intentions, some ideologies we have in this two societies are conflicting.

The rule of the state is to contain the society and help it to focus its activity toward peaceful productive creative and safe life conditions. since we have deep gap between the Arab and the Jews we need to form two states as 1st stage. the goal of each state is to focus on reduce violence within each society and between both societies.

states have some danger as they tend to take freedom from individuals; religious freedom is one example. Many Israelis complain for having religious state and many palestinians fear from Hamas led government be such. this is a reason why we need to start create a format of confederation which will enable the autonomy of each state but can secure as higher authority to both entities freedom of religion and individual human rights and also enhance the economic power of us all.

The confederation is something we need, but we will be able to form it after we form the Palestinian state with agreed sustainable borders.

Hi Neri, Eyal, everyone.

I was thinking something was wrong with me for thinking of this on Christmas and during the holiday..I'm glad to see this post.

Barghouti was on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart here in the U.S. recently, and I still have enduring questions about the difference between/struggle between the PA and PLO. I also saw a link that a group is pursuing recognition of a state for the Palestinians to the UN. It sounds like progress to me.

Here are the couple of articles that made me think of all this.

1) Abu Hadid: P.A. "Credible Peace Partner.' Commander of Palestinian forces in Bethlehem talks diplomacy, December 2009

2) The PLO: Why an Alternative and Why the Panic? Ramzy Baroud, February 13, 2009.

Happy New Year and best wishes for a resolution--sooooonn.

Nicolette:

Two thought on your post.

Do you consider Barghouti a man of peace and do you still believe that we will have peace in our time by shunning negotiations and unilateral actions.

I think that Barghouti is a common terror facilitator and initiator and unilateral actions will not bring peace in any form.
thanks for the comment on barghouti. i had never heard of him before, i don't know what you mean by unilateral actions either.

i am really wondering what's up with the political situation, who is who, and what do they do. if i was in a war and wanted to make peace, i would want to know who to call, you know what i mean?
never mind on my questions, i think they were answered in this article that was on the news feed here.

it still sounds promising to me, to answer Neri's question. that state negotiators for the palestinians are working hard and being taken seriously. i guess i still feel the same, as i've posted before, it's a job for the UN, just like they did for kosovo.
Michael,

Appearances in the ME and everywhere are always deceiving. But from this article by Barghouti, it appears he is not a terrorist. He's saying the situation now is stalled and the two-state solution may not work, but that there will be a push for a one-state democratic solution. I hear no threats of Intifada, as are comming from Abbas and Baroud..

or am I missing something? if so, please enlighten me..thanks
Everybody believes in and wants peace.

For some peace means my peace my way. That can only happen if one side subjugates or destroys the other.

For some peace means our peace our way. That requires development of mutual trust, and much wisdom, humility, and humanity. We're not there yet. :-)
well, keep at it anyway..

I like this writer's analysis, from Dissent magazine. 'Don't know were else to put it, adding it here.

Essentially he is saying that creation of two states should be presented not to your leaders---but to the public in the form of a referendum. that is a new idea i have not yet heard before. your work at mepeace would actually be crucial to get THAT to happen,,

In some sense this is what One Voice is doing.
Does that mean your focus is different at mepeace? It's more just social networking? I've visited their site, One Voice, and it did look interesting; they seemed to have official government support and backing. In any case, I like the idea of a public referendum. That would be a unique historical event.
I am not activist of One Voice, I am activist of change, and element in the answer for bringing chnage that support the 'Future of Palestinians and Israelis' is connecting the different activists.

One Voice is grate organization as many others, mepeace.org is a platform to connect people who are activists with respect to the different organizations and individuals.

mepeace.org is not competing with any organization, it supporting their people to get thier objectives meshing their activities with other organizations and individuals activities.
oohh. thanks. i probably don't belong here really. thanks for letting me listen and comment anyway. keep up the great work!
