Profile Information

My personal story:
I come from India which is known to be a beautifully diverse country. I take pride in my country's rich past and diversity but sadly, there are elements in our society who for their own vested interests have failed to appreciate this. The society is torn with communal, ethnic-based violence and discrimination. There is no peace within as well as on our frontiers. India has failed to be in peace with its neighbors as well as with itself.
Why I want peace:
Peace is the prerequisite for development, for prosperity.
Interests and activities:
I am currently pursuing my M.Phil in Sociology from Delhi School of Economics. My research interest includes peace and conflict. I am a freelance writer on the issues of gender, peace and conflict (particularly, Indo-Pak issues) and contemporary issues. I am a core member of Mission Bhartiyam and convener of Aaghaz-e-Dosti, a joint Indo-Pak friendship initiative of Mission Bhartiyam (India) and The Catalyst - Tc (Pakistan)

Role of people in improving Indo-Pak relations

Posted on January 21, 2015 at 10:06am 2 Comments

While British India became independent and was divided into India and Pakistan for a more peaceful and saner future, we know that this is yet to be realized. Since separation, there has largely been a culture of war and extreme hatred. In these 67 years, there have been 4 major wars, countless ceasefire violations and indirect clashes suffered by divided families, prisoners and fishermen.

Yet, there exists a very pessimistic attitude towards peace. It has also been reduced to…
