Profile Information

My personal story:
I have a high-tech, business and entrepreanurial background. The events of March 2002 made me realize that we may all find ourselves falling down the slippery slopes together and made me go on a quest to personally understand, as a citizen, if I can offer a better alternative.

My analysis, academic studies in conflict resolution and my expereince since have all lead me to believe that the real issue is AGENCY -- have the Palestinians and Isralies (and not just their leaders or elites) evolve the "future scenario" most democratically preferred by both communities.

Once such a scenario stabilized, the leaders can proceed to implement it, kowing that they have the well-considered support of their people to tackle all the inevitable difficulties in making it a reality.

I have developed a mechanism, called PROD, that makes my suggestion practical. You are welcome to read more about it in my site www.ideonea.com/prod/index.htm and contact me with any comments or ideas.
Why I want peace:
Violent conflicts are a terrible waste.

If enough of us are smart enough we may find a way to amke (almost) everyone both happier and better off in peace.
Interests and activities:
Conflict resolution, history, political science, thinking, creativity, technology
Something you didn't know about me:
I have the cutest baby boy
How I found mepeace.org:
Heard about it from Myriam Darmoni and Noa Shapira
What I want to achieve here:
Create synergetic relationship leading to fulfiling and inspiring results.

Hi Doron, thanks for starting your discussion.  My commitment to the region crystalised after visiting the area on two occasions in the summer of 2000 and 2001.  I worked as a volunteer at Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam, I travelled to Ibillin to meet Abuna Elias Chacour and I spent time visiting the West Bank and Gaza.

I have learnt about the Hebrew Bible and the plight of the Jewish people throughout my life.  The memory of Holocaust and the call to 'Never again' are part of my youth as well as images of Apartheid South Africa, the US civil rights movement, Gandhi's struggle to liberate India and the civil rights movement in my own country for Aboriginal people.

All of these experiences, combined with my past decade in research and dialogue about the conflict,  have helped build a personal commitment to looking at ways to end the conflict and for a just settlement.

Hi Doron
my name mean worship .yes we must briedge the cop between our people as essential step twords building peace in our area .
by the way i hav been turned to many israeli friends to help palestinian poor familes by buying there product of oliv oil so i also do the same with u , please read following information hope that u can help

Olive Oil Buying, Peace Building
Following the uprooting of hundreds of olive trees by Israeli settlers in the Palestinian village of Issawiya, Abed Khalil, a member of the Families Forum’s and a resident of the village, has recruited his Israeli friends in the forum and in general to help his fellow villagers by buying some of there olive oil
.The dire economic situation throughout the West Bank severely impacts the Palestinian population and its quality of life. The barriers and checkpoints between the Palestinian villages and towns exacerbate these difficulties and seriously diminish people's ability to move around, receive health and medical care, study in the university and access employment. The weaker sectors in Palestinian society are the most seriously impacted, among them poverty-stricken farmers whose livelihood has been significantly damaged as the Occupation confiscates their lands and the Jewish settlers systematically uproot their olive trees.

Abed, a Palestinian peace and women's-rights activist, organizes and coordinates deliveries of olive oil produced by needy Palestinian families, at the price of 35 NIS per liter. He can be reached at 0546-723184, or 0599-798319

or by email: abed2003a@hotmail.com
