I grew up in an Anabaptist faith tradition called the Church of the Brethren. I also grew up in a hawking, establishment Republican family. But as I've investigated my faith tradition further, I've decided that building and pursuing peace is an undeniable calling in my life.
Why I want peace:
I want peace because as an Anabaptist I believe creating peace and practicing active nonviolent social change is a an imperative aspect of following Jesus. As an white, male, straight, middle class American, I live relatively free from violent danger and oppression, and I believe I have no right to stop working to build peace until every person on Earth has the same freedoms, opportunities, and securities as me.
