Profile Information

My personal story:: Born in Israel, and spent most of my life there. Both my parents were born in Israel, and my family still lives there.

My grandparents on my father's side were both Holocaust survivors. My grandmother lost most of her family to the Nazis, while she, with her younger brother and mother, survived three years in hiding in an attic in Holand. She then immigrated to Palestina on a Ha'apala boat. My grandfather lost all of his family to the Nazis. He made his way through embattled Europe to Palestina, where they met.
On my mother's maternal side, we can trace back six generations living in Israel. My mother's grandmother's grandfather immigrated from Odessa in 1888, and established what is today known as Ness Ziona, on a piece of a land called Wadi El-Hanin, or Valley of Roses, which he bought without seeing to discover upon arrival it was actually a Malaria infested swamp.
My mother's father grew up in Romania. He was sent to Palestina by his father shortly before the war. A few years ago we went on a family trip to his hometown, Odobeshti, and saw the old family home, now occupied by the local tax offices, and the family's vineyards and winery. This property was never sold, but is now in the hands of others who took it for their own after the war.

Following a short but painful battle with cancer, a long standing email friendship with an Australian girl I met while travelling in Laos was allowed to grow into a romantic true love.
Currently living together in Australia, and about to get married :)

Why I want peace:: Because I believe War and Violence are unnecessary and ineffective ways to resolve a conflict.
I also believe War and everything that goes with it - Poverty, bad Education, Racism, Hatred, Fear, Religious fanatics - are merely tools in the hands of the few to maintain their control over the masses by keeping them poor, uneducated and scared for their lives.
I believe we are better than that.

Interests and activities:: music, languages, traveling and learning more about everything

Days before the start of the harvest, especially in the West Bank,
What happened was expected, the start was of some settlers groups fighting Palestinian families
and preventing them to enter to the olive harvest,
Then the settlers started shooting the Palestinians, and set fire in the trees
Finally, with the help of European, American, Israeli, and other people from all over the world,
Some Palestinian families succeeded to collect their olives.

So, I am the address to thank all those who helped these families and brought them happiness,
And say to the settlers: We will not let you bring down the symbol of peace
For the olive trees are the symbol of peace in the land of peace

At that time I thought every Jewish person, whether soldier or citizen, man or woman, young or old, should be killed. I rejected the right for any Jew to live and every Jew was a target. I was just a kid, believe me, and I didn’t understand anything about politics or the Arab-Israeli conflict. I was arrested and sat in jail for 12 years. This was during the first intifada from 1987. At that time nobody talked about peace but only of violence. I matured during my time in jail. I started studying and reading books on politics, literature, poetry, and about the Madrid Conference.

It gave me hope to live in peace and dignity. I learned that violence only breeds violence and that peace is the only solution for the two nations, the only way for both to have a respectful and beautiful future. We live on the same land. We are neighbors. We drink the same water and both pray to a monotheistic God. We must live in peace on the basis of religion for God and land for everyone.
