Continuing Problems in the Mideast

Almost all energy on Mepeace is given over to the Palestine/Israel situation with a strong bias against the nation of Israel.  This same attitude can be found on most sites which feature themselves as "liberal".  In fact, it's pretty evident that Israel is demonized while the horrendous problems facing the populations of the Mideast are practically disregarded.  Let me begin with my own country, Lebanon, which one I recently had to flee for fear of my and my family's well-being.  While Lebanon…See More

I have been off this board for several weeks because: 1) I am preparing to return to the USA because it is getting to be so dangerous in Lebanon and, what with Syria reeling, Iran is sure to do whatever is in its power to divert attention to Israel.  It will not be long now before the Syrian troops, Hezbollah and Hamas and, perhaps, the Muslim Brotherhood and the Salafists in Egypt will join in an enterprise to attack the State of Israel.  The outcome will be a catastrophe for our people. …See More

The Failures of mepeace

I have followed discussions on this forum for several years and finally, finally, decided to become actively involved.  I have become involved due to what I see as the incredible wasted potential of this forum; in fact, this forum, as I see it, does a good deal of harm.  I have travelled all over the Mideast, Europe and the USA in my former capacity as a freelance journalist (under a pseudonym) and as a businessman (import/export).  I have spent time as a tourist and completed business in most…See More

Profile Information

My personal story:
I was born in Lebanon and, as a young adult, educated in the USA. I became a journalist who covered the Mideast (including Lebann and Israel and Iran (if considered the Mideast) and continued to have strong ties in the USA. I left journalism to begin an import-export company specializing in Mideastern goods for the USA. Since then, I have expanded my sphere to include France, Canada, New Zealand and Australia and, as well, am importing from these regions into Lebanon. I have travelled a good deal, speak Arabic, English and French fluently and am able to function in Hebrew. I have been in the middle of civil wars and have also personally witnessed terrorist attacks and their dire results. I am a Lebanese Christian and my own situation (and my family's) in Lebanon remains at risk. I and family members do have the option of returning to the USA as we are dual citizens.
Why I want peace:
I have a personal interest as my own and my family member's very existence is continually at risk. I also see the enormous potential for member nations of the Mideast to achieve in several different realms including the material, the academic and the spiritual once the powers of freedom and peaceful relations is unleashed. On the other hand, I am also aware of the terrible problems on the horizon and the multiple threats of self-destruction. As a result, I would like to be more active in the creative act of peacemaking.
Interests and activities:
Business; literature; hiking; jogging; movies.
Something you didn't know about me:
I have been imprisoned while cnducting business in Syria.
Favorite website:
http://There are several.
How I found mepeace.org:
I have been reading the literature from MePeace for two years after finding it accidentally.
What I want to achieve here:
To engage in discussions, achieve a better understanding and add to others' knowledge base as well.
