Well, my story is long and slightly complicated, but I will try and keep it short and simple...I grew up on a farm in S. E. Missouri, with no idea that anything outside of the US existed.
Then I had the privilege to travel to Israel and work on a Kibbutz. I fell in love with the region, the cultures and the people. More recently, I had the priviledge to visit the West Bank and befriend a Palestinian family. I then found myself in an intelectual ping-pong game in my head about the conflict.
It influenced me so much and so deeply that I decided to get my MA in International Relations with in emphasis on Middle East issues.
I have been to Israel-Palestine a few times now, studied Hebrew and Arabic (still working on the Arabic-anyone want to help?) and am now trying to find a way to relocate there to be more actively supportive.
I am so happy to find this network to meet others who also desire a peaceful co-existence in the Middle East.
Why I want peace:
Why do we want oxygen? It is vital for a healthy existence on this planet.
Interests and activities:
I have a strong interest in media communications, music (play percussion and sing), art, photography, traditional dances (Israeli, Arabic, Greek), love to explore new places and make new friends.
Something you didn't know about me:
Well, everything on this profile so far...unless we have already met somewhere... ;-)
How I found mepeace.org:
Through an e-mail invitation from Eyal.
What I want to achieve here:
This seems like a great place to meet other people with similar interests and make new friends. I also hope to find a way to switch my career to working full time for this cause. I would love to work for an organization, such as the UN, to help the progress of peace in the Middle East.
