Profile Information

My personal story:
Media and Communications Associate

Jessica graduated from Wake Forest University in 2006 with an MA in Religion and Society. In preparation for her interdisciplinary thesis, A Dialogical Roadmap to Peace: Israeli and Palestinian Feminists Building Bridges to Peace in the Shadow of the Wall, she was awarded a grant by the Department of Religion that enabled her to research Palestinian and Israeli feminist organizations and conduct interviews with numerous veteran feminist activists.

Jessica’s interest in alternative means of resistance and peace building led her to research and produce a short documentary video installation, Beauty in the Uprising, which, through interviews with Palestinian and Israeli artists and arts professionals, explores the role of art in resistance, conflict resolution, and social change. The film was exhibited in the summer 2008 exhibition, Multiplicitocracy, at the Katzen Arts Center in Washington, DC.

Her broader commitment to dialogue and exchange is further demonstrated by her work with Native American communities in the U.S. Jessica has coordinated and led two student exchange programs in cooperation with reservations in Alaska and Arizona. In 2003, Jessica facilitated a group of Christian college students in a dialogue-as-praxis project rooted in the restoration of totem poles and religious artifacts destroyed by Christian missionaries decades earlier in a native community in Haines, Alaska. She then coordinated the 2006 Feather & Stone Exchange, a program fostering cultural and educational exchange between persons associated with the San Carlos Apache Reservation in Arizona and non-native peoples in Winston-Salem, N.C., where Jessica was living at the time.

In addition to her role at Just Vision, Jessica is working toward an MA in Arab Studies at Georgetown University’s Center for Contemporary Arab Studies.

Policy of destroying houses and expel the population of Jerusalem, a long-standing policy
But what we see these days, the number of demolition orders and confiscation of Arab homes in Jerusalem and its environs
The question why the Israeli government has chosen this time and the number of houses to be demolished
The Israeli government has determined that calm and stability in the region and took a lot of policy to destroy the decision to demolish the houses and the road map, and all international conventions and humanitarian laws and that this policy indicates that this shows that behind the government's policy decisions and looking for blood and violence and avoidance of international obligations

This government is the Arab population in East Jerusalem, the time bomb to explode at any time and the only loser is the citizen of the Arabs and the Jews
Those of the makers and get off at the most important government office has just kept no matter what price
Faisal Alhtib person looking for peace and reaching peace

A True Story By Faisal Al-kateep
I am a Palestinian Arab from Hizmeh, a village between Jerusalem and Ramallah. When I was 15 years old I fought against the Israeli Occupation in search of freedom. At that time I thought every Jewish person, whether soldier or citizen, man or woman, young or old, should be killed. I rejected the right for any Jew to live and every Jew was a target. I was just a kid, believe me, and I didn’t understand anything about politics or the Arab-Israeli conflict. I was arrested and sat in jail for 12 years. This was during the first intifada from 1987. At that time nobody talked about peace but only of violence. I matured during my time in jail. I started studying and reading books on politics, literature, poetry, and about the Madrid Conference.

It gave me hope to live in peace and dignity. I learned that violence only breeds violence and that peace is the only solution for the two nations, the only way for both to have a respectful and beautiful future. We live on the same land. We are neighbors. We drink the same water and both pray to a monotheistic God. We must live in peace on the basis of religion for God and land for everyone.
