I am an educator, social entrepreneur and community activist based in Detroit, Michigan. I am the CEO and founder of The Liberati Group, a creative digital agency specializing in grassroots advocacy and crowdfunding campaigns for non-profits, cause-based organizations and small businesses.
A graduate of the University of Michigan with degrees in Physics and Linguistics with High Honors, I have taught formerly truant and low-income youth in subjects ranging from science to media literacy and social justice activism. I am also a founding member of the New York City General Assembly (NYCGA) – the group that brought you Occupy Wall Street. I continue my education activism with the Grassroots Education Movement and Class Size Matters. In 2012, I co-founded the Paul Robeson Freedom School in Brooklyn, NY.
In 2014, I returned to my hometown Detroit to co-found the Detroit Water Brigade, a non-profit advocacy and rapid relief organization responding to the city’s aggressive water shutoff program. In May, 2015, I left the leadership of this group to spin off a new community organization, Detroit Workers and Builders, which trains and employs Detroiters fixing Detroit’s blighted homes, public buildings and infrastructure.
In my (fleeting) spare time, I enjoy biking, running, chess, and playing the ’77 Fender Rhodes stage piano to my heart’s delight.
Why I want peace:
I want peace because everybody deserves to live with security, dignity and joy – and I want to help make that a reality.
How is everything with you, I picked interest on you after going through your short profile and deemed it necessary to write you immediately.
