Profile Information

My personal story:
I am the co-founder of Where Peace Lives, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating peace through art and media. . Two schools in New Jersey displayed the first Peace Murals at the United Nations this past March at the Gandhi - King Season of Non-Violence Youth Conference. We just completed a Peace Mural in Suaz, Egypt and have just began one in Peru at a school along the Amazon.
Why I want peace:
I am committed to creating a new conversation for peace in world on behalf of children. I seek to empower children to speak out for the world they want to live in and know that their voices will be heard. It is time for all children to be given the opportunity to grow up free, safe and strong.
Interests and activities:
Having conversations about creating a new conversation for peace. Expanding what is possibility for Where Peace Lives. Enrolling people in having transformation alive and real for everyone.
Something you didn't know about me:
I use to think a "military solution" was the only solution to conflict in the world
Favorite website:
http://www.wherepeacelives.org
How I found mepeace.org:
through the Peace Portal
What I want to achieve here:
To keep expanding the possibility of altering the conversation for peace in the Middle East and the rest of the world. Creating an opportunity to make a difference for the generations that come after me. To live the world a better place before my time in this world is up.

Greeted by a knife in 2010

Posted on January 2, 2010 at 6:44pm 0 Comments

Here it is the 2ND of January and violence showed up right in front of me.

I am seating in a cafe just 25 minutes after I stepped in front of two men with knives arguing over something completely stupid.

This guy walked into the cafe and asked to use the bathroom. The cafe owner, Ralph, said since the guy doesn't ever buy anything in the store he can't use the bathroom.

It turns out this guy shop at the convenient store next door a few times a week and comes into the cafe and… Continue

Collaborating for Peace ... the book

Posted on April 8, 2009 at 3:47am 0 Comments

Hello Peacemakers,

Today I picked up a journal to begin writing down my view of my life experiences. On its cover are the words "Live, Love and Dance"

I have yet to pick up a pen, but an idea came to mind. What if we all collaborated on publishing a book on how to bring about peace for the children and the next genreations to come? What would be possible if we "shed a little light" on each of our own humanity, bridging all differences and misunderstanding regarding the… Continue

Dear Jeff,

Pleased to hear from you and about your organization. As someone who started out many years ago with a gallery in Haddonfield NJ and an arts advocacy organization I am seriously aware of the value of the arts to reach, teach inspire and change lives. It's late so I just took a quick peek at your website. Will look forward to seeing more tomorrow......

Shalom-Salaam-Peace,
Larry Snider

A True Story By Faisal Al-kateep
I am a Palestinian Arab from Hizmeh, a village between Jerusalem and Ramallah. When I was 15 years old I fought against the Israeli Occupation in search of freedom. At that time I thought every Jewish person, whether soldier or citizen, man or woman, young or old, should be killed. I rejected the right for any Jew to live and every Jew was a target. I was just a kid, believe me, and I didn’t understand anything about politics or the Arab-Israeli conflict. I was arrested and sat in jail for 12 years. This was during the first intifada from 1987. At that time nobody talked about peace but only of violence. I matured during my time in jail. I started studying and reading books on politics, literature, poetry, and about the Madrid Conference.

It gave me hope to live in peace and dignity. I learned that violence only breeds violence and that peace is the only solution for the two nations, the only way for both to have a respectful and beautiful future. We live on the same land. We are neighbors. We drink the same water and both pray to a monotheistic God. We must live in peace on the basis of religion for God and land for everyone.
