Palestine-Israel Journal

The Palestine-Israel Journal is the only independent, joint publication to be produced locally from the perspective of both sides. We have an important responsibility and role to play in maintaining open channels for dialogue between the two peoples.

Profile Information

My personal story:
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission for the Middle East is an independent, interfaith, academic and philosophical initiative for peacemaking in the Middle East.

The TRCME will provide a forum for discussion for spiritual leaders, peace thinkers and activists and will address primarily the intellectual, moral, ethical and philosophical dilemmas which are preventing the discovery of non-violent solutions to the crises of the region. The project will search for peace, educational, religious, social, moral and intellectual activist groups to become partners of this project inside Israel, Palestine, Irag, Afghanistan and other Middle Eastern countries in order to organize local chapters of the overall TRCME. . The Commission was launched in Israel and Palestine in 2008 and seeks to move around to different Middle Eastern countries on a bi-annual basis thereafter (Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, etc.).
Why I want peace:
The project will address several outstanding issues:

1. Resolving the ongoing war and conflict in Iraq and restoring order, prosperity, freedom, security and well-being to the long suffering people of Iraq.

2. Afghanistan: how to stop the fighting and restore order, prosperity and justice throughout the country?

3. Palestine: how to provide a decent quality of life for all Palestinians in their own autonomous country?

4. Israel: how to secure the long term future of Israel living in peace and prosperity with her neighbours, free of all terrorist attacks?

5. Lebanon: how to ensure the long term stability and prosperity of the country, living in peace internally and externally?

6. How to protect minority rights and the rights of religious and ethnic minorities throughout the Middle East region, from whatever background?
Interests and activities:
Friends may help the ongoing work of the TRCME by registering as an Associate of the work of the TRCME. This involves a commitment to any or all of the following:

1. By prayers for peace directed to this ongoing project – whatever your faith background, or spiritual perspective, they are welcome !

2. By submitting documentation, reports, DVD’s, evidence in writing or on tape, concerned with good practice and creative work for peace, non-violence, and conflict resolution throughout the Middle East, and especially concerning Palestine and Israel – please submit by post or email to IIPSGP headquarters.

3. By submitting any academic or philosophical or theological writings which address the search for peace, justice and spiritual and intellectual harmony in the Middle East, especially between rival religious and intellectual systems and cultures (e.g. Islam, Judaism, Christianity, Bahaism, Shii’sm, Sunnism, Catholicism, Orthodoxy, secularism, scientism, nationalism, Paganism, Marxism etc.)

4. By volunteering time and energy to support the administrative and networking needed for this project.
Something you didn't know about me:
The launch of the TRCME included a number of filmed interviews with various academics, thinkers, theologians, peace activists and religious figures from across the region, a selection of which can be seen on the broadband television station, www.holisticchannel.org.uk under Human Rights and Peace
How I found mepeace.org:
Networking
What I want to achieve here:
We ask for your ongoing support and prayers for the success of this initiative, and to circulate and disseminate this call throughout all men and women of good will, with peace at their hearts, who wish to see a peaceful, just and compassionate solution to the outstanding problems of the Middle East region, in which all parties can feel they have “won”, without humiliation or abasement.

A True Story By Faisal Al-katib
I am a Palestinian Arab from Hizmeh, a village between Jerusalem and Ramallah. When I was 15 years old I fought against the Israeli Occupation in search of freedom. At that time I thought every Jewish person, whether soldier or citizen, man or woman, young or old, should be killed. I rejected the right for any Jew to live and every Jew was a target. I was just a kid, believe me, and I didn’t understand anything about politics or the Arab-Israeli conflict. I was arrested and sat in jail for 12 years. This was during the first intifada from 1987. At that time nobody talked about peace but only of violence. I matured during my time in jail. I started studying and reading books on politics, literature, poetry, and about the Madrid Conference.

It gave me hope to live in peace and dignity. I learned that violence only breeds violence and that peace is the only solution for the two nations, the only way for both to have a respectful and beautiful future. We live on the same land. We are neighbors. We drink the same water and both pray to a monotheistic God. We must live in peace on the basis of religion for God and land for everyone.

Love you like a gap of freedom you're free
Let us love and love without limits that love makes us happy
Love into one of the most beautiful attributes of the Creator has given us, you
Because of love teaches us to respect others regardless of their color and beliefs
Please do not let your hearts in the place of hatred, but calling your hearts love and love of all beautiful
Believe me, when you love happy Scharon is unprecedented
Faisal al-Khatib in his heart there is no place for hatred, but a great place to love and everything nice
