mepeace.org - network for peace

Presenting MEPEACE at TAU's International MA Program on Conflict Resolution and Mediation."

Profile Information

My personal story:
Wanting to communicate with others who want peace, I built MEPEACE - a network for peace with thousands of peacemakers and millions of page visits on mepeace.org.

I was raised in NY, Tel Aviv and Los Angeles. I left home for New York at age 16, and studied at Yeshivat Hakotel, Yeshiva University, and the London School of Economics. I moved to Israel in 2004 and studied Arabic and web design.

During the second war in Lebanon, I opened my eyes and dedicated myself to Middle East peace. I came up with this built mepeace.org to bring together people who believe in peace. After a quarter million page visits online, we created Peace Cafes and Peace Talks events on the ground.

MEPEACE empowers people and organizations with interaction, information and inspiration and enables a movement for peace. The Israeli media called MEPEACE "The Facebook of Peace" because it works like Facebook while dedicated to peace. MEPEACE represents Middle East peace and combines "me" and "peace" - it starts with each of us.

I currently lead MEPEACE's non-profit organization. I also provide technology consulting to other organizations and present our work at conferences, workshops, universities, and through media in Israel and abroad. I am making the case that "with new media - we are the media".

I completed my Masters studies in conflict management and resolution at Ben Gurion University. Reach me directly anytime at eyal@mepeace.org.
Why I want peace:
I am an eternal optimist! I want peace so that people can live fully, and enjoy their life. I want peace so there will be joy and not mourning. I want peace so we can know one another. I also see peace as enabling us to come together.
Interests and activities:
Internet, peace, possibilities and the present... I love people.
Something you didn't know about me:
I overcome my biggest fears every day.
Favorite website:
http://mepeace.org
How I found mepeace.org:
I founded mepeace.org when I wanted a place where I could meet people like you. Middle East peace begins with each of us.
What I want to achieve here:
I want mepeace.org to serve as a platform for peacemakers and a network for peace, a place where we can meet each other. Enjoy it.

I was wondering if we can make the discussion "The Armenian Genocide and Jewish Empathy," the discussion on the upcoming recommendations.  When I wrote this up, it was because Jewish extremists were minimizing and ridiculing it, to try to make the Holocaust sound as if it was the worst atrocity committed.  But now it is for a different reason.  We have Turkish activists on this website.  At Portland State University, I hosted a forum between individuals whose parents were survivors of the Armenian Genocide and Turkish exchange students.  One exchange student made a very interesting comment.  She said "When I was growing up in Turkey, I was never told to hate the Armenian people, or the Kurdish people, or the Greek people."  She had a point, because growing up white in the United States, I was never told to hate anyone who was not white.  Despite the deep history of racism that has existed against Native Americans and blacks in the United States.  Also, Sussan had a YouTube about demolished Palestinian villages, and see what type of comparison she can make between the lost Armenian villages, and the demolished Palestinian villages.  But I remind you that the inhabitants of the Armenian villages were killed off, while the inhabitants of the Palestinian villages were not.  I would like to see what her comparison  is.

Do you think we can get the film "Kaddish For A Friend" on this website?  The film was made in Germany, and it was directed by Leon Khasin.  You can see a trailer for it on YouTube.

Eyal;

Thank you for your message. I'm very happy to have found this page, I hope it's an opportunity to share a lot of stories. As you know from my profile, I am a journalist, and I am always searching for things to pass on to others. Most importantly, I am searching for stories about people who recognize the possibility of peace in each other.

I work and live in Jerusalem, and I'm very much looking forward to meeting you guys, being in touch, knowing about your activities regarding this page and the people in it.

Regards.

B

Hello Eyal, I had a look at Uri Avnery's column for this week, and it is good.

I was wondering if you would like to post it as a discussion?
