You ask "Why Conflict?". I will try to answer that. Let me start by saying that the larger a group is the less each member is the same as the other. Having said that you can see why it makes little sense to discriminate against people based on religion, geography, culture, race, etc. We are animals. We do not become human until we are civilized. The only true cure for war, greed, and conflict is education. Not indoctrination but secular education that teaches history, the laws of nature, and many other things that are not based on belief but on scientific research, objective testing, and intelligent debate. Many times conflict is a result of domestic violence. Domestic Violence is, in my theory, the root of all human violence. If you take 1 year old children and put them in a play pen they will all smile and touch one another and "trust". The older they get, older people will teach them to hate, not trust, kill first or, the theory goes, be killed. Kill to seek revenge because someone you loved has been killed. Peace = Education + Prosperity. If you have a home and a means to support yourself then you are less likely to want to waste your time fighting and killing. When you have no hope for the future, no home, no food, no respect...then it is easy for someone to say "follow me and if you learn to kill I will feed you, clothe you, and people will respect you? With a gun in your hand people will not respect you unless they feel you are a defender. It is more likely they will fear you and fear is different than respect. Fear is what dictators use to keep people in their control.
I wish I could stop the conflict today. I could put the wasted resources to far better use. It is hard to educate people when they are being bombed and shot at.
Love & Peace, Deborah

Hi Omnya, Thank you for becoming friends! :-)
I drop by only once in a while.
Please advise me on Arabic music. I'm sure I'll love it. I love drums and rhythmical music but I am open to listening + learning new things. My Turkish album has the magnificent cadence - the 'falling' violin sound. One of the most exciting + favorite musicians I have ever heard is Mehmet Ozan. He had an album called 'Istanbul Express' that I listened to insesantly (my spelling is hopeless! insessantly/relentlessly) every day - turning the album over + over - the nieghbours didn't seem to mind! I saw him at the end of a special summer in Copenhagen 29 years ago! I found him on You Tube last year.
Food + music (food of the soul) - one way to peace!
My relations lived in Chatby in Alexandria - now they are in Rome.
Please take good care - regards + in friendship, Robbie
