The Song of Hours
I wrote this poem last December (2010) for a Tree Lighting ceremony (Christmas) that I hosted that had as its theme World Peace. There was a poetry contest, and there were other entries and winners, and I also specifically wrote this poem.

attachment to religious identity
I am very attached to my Jewish identity. It is very important to me. As I have this attachment, i am letting go of nationalism, or, more simply put for me, an attachment to a nation. The latter is easier than the former. I have heard it said that giving up national identity goes hand in hand with giving up religious identity; that you cannot do away with one and not the other.
I muse over the lyrics of a song most of us have heard before:
