My actions are my witnesses
Like heroes of yester
Whose footprints we follow
I beckon you to follow
My actions are my ambassadors
They shall represent me
When time to answer comes
I beckon you to follow
My actions are my imaginations
Like tears in a dream
Whose sorrow is boundless
I beckon you to follow
My actions are pure and noble
I have no malice,no ill intent
I am making history
I beckon you to…

recognising
observing
and detaching
is so wonderful
a thing
to step outside
of that tight ring
before emotions bubble
or something explodes
and once those thoughts
have rippled out
to the waters edge
i can see again
the reflection
that time
when i smile
acknowledging
that i can still hear
and feel you within
guiding me back
to where it did all begin
where balance is restored
and…

Diseases and war grasp me
As if i am there's
Hunger and despair grapple me
As if i am a caged beast
Winds of change
Blowing for years now
Reminding us to let go
To rebuild anew
I join the winds
In the quest
For a better tomorrow
I shall let go
I shall let go
The wars and the despair
I shall let go the diseases
I shall let go
Winds of Change
Blow yet again
I have my resolve
I…

A few weeks ago, The Jewish Voice & Herald (which serves New England and Southeastern Massachusetts) spolighted our own Aziz Abu Sarah’s work as an activist in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The article, titled “Palestinian activist: From angry young man to a proponent of peace,” discusses Aziz’s very personal connection to the conflict and how he…

Who else is there
If not i to smile?
Who else is there
If not i to bring joy?
My smile will conquer
All hate and all evil
My smile will revive hope
And create new destinies
Who else is there
If not i to make you smile?
Who else is there
If not i to smile with you?
My smile will conquer all
But you-i-us together
Smiling...smiling..smiling
Will conquer them all.

It doesn't matter
It never really has
You are my brother
And will always be
Today and tomorrow
It doesn't matter
That i am a Jew
You are a Muslim
And he is a Christian
You are my brother
It doesn't matter
That i am an Indian
You are Black
And he is White
You are my brother
Our problems are same
You and i are no different
We all bleed and hurt
And eat when hungry
Are we any…

for all that YOU do
and all that YOU are
for making a difference
to bring peace
to my day
thank YOU
for the light
the acknowledgement
and respect
for all that i am
to help me understand
thank YOU
for giving me the courage
to keep making a stand
until we find
the promised land
for without a Friend
to hold my hand
to lift my spirit
and walk with me...
what am i
but a…

I am leading a tour of Jerusalem for a small group of students October 21-25. I am seeking meetings and activities with peacemakers in the Jerusalem area, Jewish, Christian, and Muslim.
אני מוביל סיור בירושלים לקבוצת סטודנטים קטנה, בין 21-25 באוקטובר. ברצוני ליצור מפגשים ופעילויות עם שוחרי שלום באזור יהודים, נוצרים ומוסלמים.

After reading this article, it made me feel worthless; a punch in the face to all people that are working towards peace and reconciliation, making it sounds as if it is/was a joke!
I found this article to be offensive, making it sound like dialogue is counter productive. I personally feel that dialogue will bring people together (maybe not necessarilly their governments), and dispell the stereotypes, racism, hate that they had been taught, and come to see the other side as human…

Boa noite!!

We need fresh thinking if the Arab Peace Initiative is to have the impact it deserves on the crisis that needlessly impoverishes Palestinians and endangers Israel's security.
This crisis is not a zero-sum game. For one side to win, the other does not have to lose.
The peace dividend for the entire Middle East is potentially immense. So why have we not gotten…

During his recent meeting with Egypt's President Mubarak, President Obama expressed cautious optimism about the progress being made in the Arab-Israeli peace process. While both presidents noted that there was "movement in the right direction," eight months of American direct engagement in the Arab-Israeli conflict has produced few tangible results. Middle East envoy George Mitchell, who has been shuttling back and forth to the region to negotiate between parties, has yet to persuade the…

When we realize our collective concept of justice is without a soul, heartless and cold, we will understand why peace is necessary and how to achieve it. The only difficulty is that realization is rarely achieved collectively, and the awakened individual is left without support, accused of undermining justice by calling for mercy. Perhaps there is a critical mass factor involved.
The right to defend oneself is innate and instinctual, and not evil. But the right to punish after the…

My latest in
Haaretz. The article is a futuristic speech by a futuristic Palestinian leader. And no, I am not advocating a one-state solution (not yet). The piece is simply a creative effort to remind people that the window of opportunity for the two-state solution is rapidly closing. If you like what you read please spread it around.

You made a modest proposal in HaAretz, but I fear there were some people who came before, in the late 1930's and into the early 1940's until he and his colleagues were trashed by the the Zionist leadership. Rather than writing mostly what I remember from my reading of a lengthy article in scholarly journal dealing with Jewish issues at Indiana University, I suggest to read it yourself. I had it on my files until by computer crashed and now it costs money I don't have. It ought to be available…
