This evening, the Jewish New Year begins. May we all be blessed with peace, health and good news in the coming year.

According to Jewish tradition, this is year 5,772. To all who celebrate Rosh Hashana, have a Shana Tova U'metuka - a good and sweet year!

On a personal note, I wish to share with you and the MEPEACE community that I am expecting to be a father this year... We are looking forward to a baby girl. :)

So It's Freedom You Want?

People the world over cry out for “freedom,” but how often do we sit down and think about what it really means to be free?

Over the years, different people the world over embraced different interpretations of “freedom.”

Janice Joplin used to sing of freedom as “…nothing left to lose.” Is that what it means to be free? Or is that the state of mind that is needed to put everything on the line, and to venture forth in search of freedom?

The framers of the U.S.… Continue

At the United Nations Today

Listening to Mahmoud Abbas and Benjamin Netanyahu at the United Nations today, I am overwhelmed by more than a glimmer of hope because I believe that if we can agree on the goals, we can achieve them together.

Both extend their hands in peace:

Abbas to the Israeli people - "We extend our hands to the Israeli government and the Israeli people for peace-making."

Netanyahu to the Palestinian people - "I extend my hand to the Palestinian people, with whom we seek a just and…

Why China can't and won't save the world peace?

China's boost is not the case of growing character of capitalism rather moribund world capitalism got a lease of life in china discovering the untapped market, cheap labour force, government provided infrastructural facilities, soft terms and conditions and above all government protection to the interests of the foreign investors. Have ever anyone attempted to assess the capital investment of the foreigners (especially from USA) in china? Possibly it is more than the inland investment. The… Continue

They teach children to hate Israel.

They teach children to hate Israel. Mr. President, your information is incorrect. It is clear that your spells by a person supplies the industry of hatred and malice. I'm a Palestinian family, exposure to a disaster because of the Israeli soldiers, we were kids, and not a combatant, do not carry guns. We carry a beautiful dream for the future. Despite what the occupation did, my family, my father and my mother taught us how to be peacemakers. I have not heard word one day in my family, hatred… Continue

Are we not creating a market culture in India which is devoid of human dignity and values?

We, the common people of India (irrespective of caste, creed and language) who got mobilized to make the country free from British raj, achieved a level of culture and ideology of sacrifice for the nation. We also achieved some rights that are to some extent incorporated in the Constitution of our country. Over the years of post-independence period all such powers/rights of the people are tactfully being snatched gradually (through amendments of the Constitution) justifying sustainability of… Continue

9/11 and The Arab Spring

In this ambiguous world of ours it is often difficult to find moral clarity, even when it comes to seemingly black and white issues like 9/11 and the Arab Spring. And the question arises therefore: How do we bring moral clarity to a world that is mired in confusion and chaos?

The Taliban were not exactly a friendly bunch when they ran things in Afghanistan. They made life difficult for the people with their distorted version of Islam. They kept women covered up and hidden away in…

Tenth Anniversary of 9/11: Remember This Day

“A second plane has hit the World Trade Center”, was the announcement on the radio early in the morning on the West Coast. Awakened to a horror that millions were witness to—soon capturing the attention of billions around the world. None of it seemed real. And then the buildings came down.

The first plane to hit WTC was American Airlines Flight 11, which on September 11th, smashed into the North Tower instantly killing all on board and fatally trapping 1,344 people.

Only a day… Continue

In your opinion, what are the most obstacles for peace process to be consolidated in the Middle East?

Firstly, from my opinion, there are many things that make peace process and negotiation more difficult for both sides. Such as not accepting and ignorance each others, the continuing of settlements building, the extremist in the both side, and the governments policy.

Morever, there are something can only the governments can do for peace process to be consolidated in the Middles East like negotiation binding agreements ,but there something that only citizens can do outside the… Continue
