MEPEACE honors Gershon Baskin

MEPEACE honors Dr. Gershon Baskin, peacemaker and board member of MEPEACE, for helping achieve the critical breakthrough in negotiations between the Hamas and Israel. Gershon's efforts resulted in the release of Palestinian prisoners and the return of Gilad Shalit today.

In addition to representing "Middle East Peace", MEPEACE combines the words "ME" and "PEACE". We believe that Middle East peace starts with each of us. Gershon Baskin, as the founder of IPCRI, as a peacemaker and as a person,represents the commitment and courage we strive for in realizing peace.

With his actions, Gershon has shown how one person can impact Middle East peace. We hope these events will lead us to realize the peace that is possible for Palestinians and Israelis.

The role of man in history. This known expression that confronts the historical determinisms, had a bright example in the last months. The initiative and perseverance of one man who used his personal relationships to weave the agreements between Hamas and Israeli government, changed the history for 1028 people and their families. That´s hacker culture. You don´t ask permission to do these things. You just do it.
