Newsletter June 2009
Dear members of mepeace,
in April 2008 my entry to Israel was refused, so I was very happy, to come back. On Sunday morning (7.6.) right after midnight my friend Christiane and I arrived at Ben Gurion airport. At the passport control I had to answer just two questions: „Is this your first visit to Israel?“ and „When did you stay here the last time?“ After responding I got my visa for the next three months. Hallelujah!
Now I share with you on this blog a strongly shortened version of my latest newsletter, which goes out to many friends in German and in English.
I moved back to my flat in Beit Jala.
I shall go on with my way of peace-making, on the one hand I'll tell the Palestinians about the history of the Jewish persecution under Hitler and on the other hand I'll oppose the injustice, which is caused by the Israelis.
On Friday, the 12th of June, Christiane and I went to Ni'lin. Khaled Mahameed, the lawyer from Nazareth, goes there frequently. A friend of him has also mounted some photos of the shoah on boards and they used them in previous demonstrations.
As you may know, one week before (5.6.) Aql Sror (35) was shot by the Israeli army during the demonstration. When we came to the village, we were asked to visit his family. Afterwards we went to the place, where he died and got a detailed explanantion of how this happened.
If Israeli security forces brake the law, they have a very good chance to get away unpunished. Since September 2000 B'Tselem forwarded 345 complaints regarding offences of violence by security forces, but only in 14 cases disciplinary or criminal proceedings were initiated.
Please pray for a softening of hearts and justice and peace for the region!!!
With greetings and blessings, Martin
