I discovered your organization just last week on Facebook. Kol Ha-kavod! It is my heart's aspiration to be shomer mitzvot, though I have a dauntingly long way to go. As a lifelong progressive (raised in the penumbra of the secular Jewish left), I find the political and social views within most of the Orthodox community painfully alienating, especially when it comes to Israel/Palestine.
Do you know Eliahu McLean? I am a friend of his and a great admirer, from a distance, of his partner in peacemaking Rabbi Froman. (I had hoped to meet R. Froman when I was learning at Bat Ayin yeshiva in Gush Etzion some years ago, but was unable to do so.)
I also participate somewhat in the work of the Network of Spiritual Progressives, affiliated with Tikkun Magazine (founded and edited by Rabbi Michael Lerner). Are you familiar with Tikkun? I'd be very interested to hear your thoughts about it.
Maybe you can answer some of my questions about OJfP: What is its structure? Is it a closed group, or a membership organization? How can I join, and what would it mean to join? Would you or other OJfP leaders be available for one or more public events, dialog meetings, etc., in the Boston area if I were to organize them? What kinds of events would be of greatest interest to you? How broad is the current membership and leadership of OJfP; in other words, which streams of Orthodox Judaism do they come from? Are there women involved?
I hope you don't mind my barrage of questions. Feel free to answer by private message, if you prefer. I'd be happy to exchange email addresses.
It is such a mechayah to me to know that there are folks like you, and a group like OJfP, in the world. Welcome to mepeace!
Shalom, Salam.
When in 1967 that war erupted between Israel and Arabic States my farther said: They are still, like for centuries, fighting for the holy land. But imagine Manius, imagine the globe, imagine the earth from afar. Drain the whole water from its surface, all you going to be left with is a dry, solid ROCK!, dry solid land!. Wherever you put your finger on, on any place of this one solid land, it is going to land on the holy land. Isn't? The holy land is everywhere.
The whole world have to learn, comprehend and accept it, especially people living in that particular area; people who live in Jerusalem, in the city of Peace.
THE HOLY LAND IS EVERYWHERE!
Not only in Jerusalem, Mecca or any other 'holy' shrine or place on Earth.
Wake up people, wake up to the Truth. To the true image of the Holy Land. Stop living this distorted image our father's fathers lived for so long. Wake up and accept the Truth and Reality.
THE HOLY LAND IS EVERYWHERE!
In Peace Forever
