At 10:44am on August 1, 2012, mercy udu-idika said…: Women are a powerful and yet untapped force for peace our challenge is to act on this understanding that the peacekeeping missions we deploy and the peace negotiations we support must have gender equality at their heart(Ban ki Moon 2012). Am loving this statement for the presence of women peacekeepers help to reduce conflict. It makes an easy way and act as a support tactics to local rural women. Children are more familiar with women and so female peacekeepers are children's favourites. Interactions with fellow women is very easy hence improved communication between peacekeepers and survivors. The list of benefits of women as peacekeepers is inexhaustive. I just want to add this, let us all support and work towards the statement of the UN secretary general is in congruence with common slogan - women for peace and no woman no nation.
