Dr. Don Beck speech to Palestinians-Ana Falestini

See www.humanemergencemiddleeast.org for more videos. Dr. Beck addressing the Nation-Building Movement in Palestine on February 2, 2008 and speaking to the 10-year old Balqees; the future of Palestine

Nafiz Rifaee, the Palestinian leader who designed and organized the event with the help of a team of dedicated men and women, urged the audience to focus on the future of their children and the future of Palestine. “This all started when Dr. Beck asked us how were we going to spend the seven billion dollars coming from donor countries. Do we have a sustainable plan for development? Or will the financial aid follow the usual channels?” Mr. Rifaee recalled.

Dr. Beck is a Texan .... he bring the system of development but it is always us who need to do the work, I am no leader, you should check with Nafiz Rifaee for what he is doing in Palestine, there you'll find a real down to earth leader.

The complexity that makes the older systems obsolete are developmental satges society goes throgh.

think of the situation in Rome, where the economy was based on slavery, a system that we still have in the world, but now it considered obsolete, even if it exists in the old testament.

think of the situation where woman did not have right to own property ... now it is obsolete in western world.

The idea is that Dr. Beck is not the one to tell the Israelis or the Palestinians what todo, but he propose a method to seek and manage change. The main idea is that we create the "concepts" we use and for now the concept we are using (and Mary with hre comment here are great example) are not servicing us to create peace so we need to make new concepts that will be more complex, for instance to be able to vision a complex social entity that include all the humans of the middle east and is based of network of communities that transcends borders and national identity (this is just example).

The idea is that the human realety is solving its problems by creating more complex environment, if once a Kingdom model worked now we use a complex national state model etc.

Dear Mary,

As we know each other a bit throgh this conversations here I am not surprised from your reaction. So far you did not show any flexability to understand different prespectives of realty then the one that you hold.

1) So far the palestinians failed to utilize the vast support money delivered to them. This is not only due the Palestinians and the Israeli behavior is a powerful variable but still thy hold responsibility to utilize the support to improve their own livelihood and education. The problem of corruption is evident and it is only them who can cure such illnesses.

But the most important lesson we need to remember is that a day after the peace agreement will be signed - all this world support may disappear and the realty of building Palestine will be whole responsibility of the Palestinians. Now is the time to create 1st class health care, social support, education, roads and electronic infrastructure and governance system. they have to practice this skills.

2) Americans "lost faith in Palestinians". Did they ever have any? I guess that the amount of investment in Palestine as many American leaders were involved in the effort of creating sustainable peace agreement. As I think that Americans in general has spectrum of perspectives about the Israel/Palestine conflict they are constantly project values of democracy and world humanistic views which is positive support in Palestine solutions.

I think of today and especially after the 9/11 America react more aggressively to "Terror acts" which are embedded into the "Palestinian resistance". fortunately their is some understanding that middle-east conflict root is Palestine and expectation that if we will be able to evolve from this conflict, many other conflicts in the middle-east will lose their sting.

3) Dr. Beck way of work is to focus on future that can be achieved and practice for the next stages of development in order to strengthen the human entity (Palestine in this case). The Palestinian are advancing and we can see the good signs in Hamas abilities that show more assertiveness then the old Fatah who failed due its internal structure. Such events as 2 February 2008 are expression of Palestinians more developed in their integrity then the Israelis I know.

3) Worst of all, the tells them that Fatah has to win. this is important to recognize that so far Hamas catalyzed change in Fatah and this important movement is working to change and adopt itself to the new realty Hamas brought. Hamas from the other side officially reject previous agreements with Israel and put Palestinians in the dangers of violent war. The Fatah as a movement that recognize Israel must win at this stage till the Joint agenda of the political leadership and the people will be on finding working resolution with the existance of Israel.

These are my opinion and interpretation , Dr. Beck or Mr. Rifaee may react differently to your statements.
