We're proud to announce another MEPEACE Chat Workshop, this time following up on our very productive initial workshop on the topic 'Promoting women's approaches to peacebuilding', held two weeks ago, on July 10 (http://www.mepeace.org/events/mepeace-chat-july-10).

The first of two planned follow-up workshops is scheduled to be held this upcoming Sunday, 24 July, at 20.00 Jerusalem time, in our chatroom, and will be called 'Defining women's participation and perspective'.

Not only in the Middle East, but virtually everywhere in the world, it appears that women's voices are often not being heard when it comes to peacebuilding and reconciliation processes. While we pretend to have left the dark ages of male dominance behind for good, there is a still a long way to go until we attain full equality between men and women, especially in the field of (international) politics.

Women might contribute to peacebuilding and reconciliation in different, often more constructive and holistic ways than men. But even where there's an acceptable level of women's participation, the overarching structures are often dominated by men.

This is the reason why it is important to discuss how - especially in the field of peacebuilding - women's participation can actively be promoted and enhanced. In this workshop, both male and female voices - from Israel, Palestine and all over the world - are very welcome.

The leading questions for next Sunday's workshop are:

Is women's participation more patient, conciliatory, inclusive?

Are we required to work for equality or is it in our best interests?

Which women in particular can act as appropriate examples for positive effects of women's participation?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please note that the event will start on Sunday, 24 July at 20.00 Jerusalem time, in the MEPEACE Chat.

If you have any questions regarding the event, please don't hesitate to contact us at dialogue@mepeace.org.

We are looking forward to your participation!

Dear Khaled, thanks for your suggestion. We will keep that in mind for our 3rd and final workshop on that topic - likely to be held in 2 weeks. Hope to see you tomorrow!

I was really looking forward to participating in this chat, but I mixed up my dates and thought that it was today (Saturday night) not Sunday. Will a transcript be available afterward?

Dear Oliver, thank you very much, and i think that these questions are very useful, but i suggest that we can add a question: How women can play an influential role in the dissemination of peace principles  in society, particularly academic women?
