We're proud to announce the second of two MEPEACE Chat Workshops on the topic 'Honoring the experience of the "other"', scheduled to be held this upcoming Sunday, 15 May, at 20.00 Jerusalem time, in our chatroom.

The incidence of the Jewish Remembrance Day (Yom Hazikaron) last Sunday, and the Palestinian Nakba Day (next Sunday, May 15) provide the background for this Chat Workshop series.

Facing two so important days of commemoration for Israelis (and Jews worldwide) and Palestinians, respectively, we might find it appropriate to reflect on what such days actually mean to us, and - most crucially - what our perceived enemies can learn about 'us' and our history by finding out what 'we' commemorate and why.

After last Sunday's very productive workshop on 'Honoring the Jewish experience' we will now move on and tackle the topic from the Palestinian perspective. We will do that on 'Nakba Day' itself, on Sunday, May 15.

The workshop - Honoring the Palestinian experience - will have the following leading questions:

How would you rate the importance of honoring the Palestinian experience, culminating in the forceful expulsion from Palestinians' lands after the birth of the state of Israel and, subsequently, occupation? How important is Nakba Day for you personally?

What, in your view, are the most appropriate forms of honoring the Palestinian experience?

What can both Palestinian communities and non-Palestinian ones (especially Israelis) learn from actively taking part in events dedicated to honoring the experience of the Palestinian people?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please note that the event will start on Sunday, 15 May at 20.00 Jerusalem time, in the MEPEACE Chat.

If you have any questions regarding the event, please don't hesitate to contact us at dialogue@mepeace.org.

We are looking forward to your participation!
