I am not sure why this specify incident has interest for you, but I think that Hamas wish not to risk the current quiet especially when there are signs that a deal with Gilad Shalit and maybe end of the Siege is coming.
There are many people in Gaza, as there are in the Israeli settlements who wish not to have progress and will invest to sabotage any progress toward compromise of "holy interests" of Palestine or of Israel.
Such acts signal us that there are people who seek progress in Hamas ... hopefully we will walk the door of opportunity this time.
This story was of interest to me because Hamas rarely gets moderate coverage in the news--especially in the English / Israeli press. I think that it is important for Hamas to get broader coverage and I was disappointed that I only saw this small article in English...It's important for people to know that Hamas is acting in peaceful ways, at least some of the time.
I agree with you that it is important to make visible that Hamas are more complex then " a group of terrorists who wish to destroy Israel" as so many think of them, but it is not the news stories that will expose it, as so many editors do not put the effort for making news as service.
Your postr by itself is valuable and I hope that many here will be exposed to the idea that Hamas as a human entity has aims to get peace and progress.
