Jayyous is a Palestinian village whose land is divided by the Wall. The
owners of the Olive groves have a permit to work them - with the
limitation of days, hours and number of people who allowed to help -
that is not much.
We have been there to give a hand for several hours.
Yafit -Gamila- one of the organizer(with Yaakov Manor) calls it "light harvest":)
We have been about 80 people, divided to different groves. It was a hot
day, hitting sun, but the mood was great. I was with the group of Abu
Azam, who is considered as the head of farmers in Jayyous village. A
lovely person, warm hearted, who told us not to work too hard but to
enjoy the harvesting.
He said to us: "you are the handkerchief for our tears"......which left us with tears.
I am going to be back there..
