I am pleased to announce that the world premiere of "The Classroom: A Children's Peace Opera" was very successful. In the opera, 4th and 5th graders portrayed Israeli and Palestinian students going through a school day together in friendship. Following the premiere, we had our cast party at a wonderful Palestinian falafel restaurant here in Albany--it was probably the first time these kids had had falafel! Also, at the premiere the parents had a bake sale and raised money that will go to a cause for peace!. "The Classroom" need not be performed just portraying Israelis and Palestinians. Every community can select which groups it would like to portray in the opera. The important thing is that the message of coexistence and tolerance is conveyed. I hope you all enjoy this work and can think of opportunities for its future performance.
