My personal story:
I Wage Peace.Org inspires Peacemakers through education, film, creative advertising and exciting public events including our Painting for Peace mural projects and our annual IWagePeace Walk. We believe in doing things that advance peace liberty and justice for the people of Israel and Palestine. We do not need to agree on everything to work for peace and justice.
Why I want peace:
When will peace arrive? I don't know. Perhaps this year or perhaps many years hence, but of this I am sure:

One day, when peace arrives, it will be through the hard work of everyday people like you and me.
Interests and activities:
In 2008 we filmed our documentary "The Billboard from Bethlehem" with The Combatants for peace as one step on the way toward active non-violent peacemaking. With the film, I want to inspire Americans and other nations to see that our options are greater than mere “fight or flight”. I hope viewers will see that if we dedicate to active peacemaking some of the vast resources dedicated to war making, then we will find ourselves filled with allies, options, and opportunities for peace.
The Idea for the Billboard from Bethlehem originated inside the walls of Temple Emanuel in Orange CT. The Palestinian, Sulaiman Al Hamri and the Israeli, Elik Elhanan were sharing their stories of their life as combatants and their decision to join forces non-violently to end the suffering of their people. I was moved by their words and invited them to come to our sign shop and paint a sign promoting their organization, Combatants for Peace. Quite unexpectedly, they asked me if they could paint the sign in the West Bank. I surprised myself by answering, “yes, we will find a way”. And so the project was born.

We joined the Combatants for Peace along with 100 Israeli and Palestinian children in the West Bank to paint a giant "peace mural" which returned to the US to first visit a mosque, a synagogue and a church before finally being posted on a busy American highway where it is still being displayed.
Something you didn't know about me:
I have been called "relentlessly optimistic".

Painting For Peace on the New Haven Green

Posted on May 10, 2010 at 3:00pm 5 Comments

The 48 foot peace mural is now posted on Interstate Highway 95 in West Haven, Connecticut.

On April 25th, PeaceMakers from area mosques, synagogues, and churches broke the myth that Muslim,

Jew, Christian and others can not work together for peace." This myth, that we fight and always have…

A True Story By Faisal Al-katib
I am a Palestinian Arab from Hizmeh, a village between Jerusalem and Ramallah. When I was 15 years old I fought against the Israeli Occupation in search of freedom. At that time I thought every Jewish person, whether soldier or citizen, man or woman, young or old, should be killed. I rejected the right for any Jew to live and every Jew was a target. I was just a kid, believe me, and I didn’t understand anything about politics or the Arab-Israeli conflict. I was arrested and sat in jail for 12 years. This was during the first intifada from 1987. At that time nobody talked about peace but only of violence. I matured during my time in jail. I started studying and reading books on politics, literature, poetry, and about the Madrid Conference.

It gave me hope to live in peace and dignity. I learned that violence only breeds violence and that peace is the only solution for the two nations, the only way for both to have a respectful and beautiful future. We live on the same land. We are neighbors. We drink the same water and both pray to a monotheistic God. We must live in peace on the basis of religion for God and land for everyone.
