I came to Israel to study the Middle East in the Middle East. I currently live in Be'er Sheva and am getting my MA at BGU. I'm not Jewish, but am fascinated by how so many people come to Israel to protect, assert, find, claim, mold their identities, how this affects relationships between people here--peace and conflict. I am here to learn about the people here and their hopes, dreams and struggles; to learn about myself and my own "places"; form my own "spaces"; and to develop meaningful relationships.
Why I want peace:
Because we are all fighting for that which we see as essential for us, we all deserve it and there are ways. We have the capacity to move towards peace, and I want to find ways to help people fulfill this potential (including myself).
Interests and activities:
IPCRI, Arabic, Israel, Palestine, Bedouin communities in the Negev, Iranophobia, transnationalism, place and space, interfaith work, dance, weather--sand storms, the great lakes, photography, salvage yards, exploring old buildings, Gary Indiana, Halloween
Something you didn't know about me:
I'm Welsh, half my family lives in Wales.
How I found mepeace.org:
Eyal, at an IPCRI Peace Education Workshop
What I want to achieve here:
See who and what are happening while I am in Israel, make connections, and learn a lot.
