I am an American who moved to Israel in Summer, 2013. I studied International Affairs in university and became very interested about International politics and especially the Arab-Israeli conflict. I came to live in Israel with the aspiration of contributing to the Israeli-Palestinian peace process and to experience the situation on the ground firsthand.
Why I want peace:
I want peace because I see both Palestinians and Israeli's first and foremost as human beings who the vast majority of want to live successful, fulfilling lives in peace and security. While I believe that Israel has a right to exist and a right to defend itself, I also believe that the Palestinian people have the right to self determination and need a state of their own. Palestinians need their own state both for themselves and for the future of Israel. I truly believe that if the progressive people on both sides demand peace, and propel leaders into power who will work for peace then it can be achieved. It must be achieved for ourselves, future generations, and for humanity! We must show the world that we can overcome this conflict and live in harmony side by side.
Interests and activities:
I am a MENA Leader for Change in YaLa Young Leaders. I also am a fellow in Search for Common Ground (SFCG). SFCG works to bring together young adult Israeli's and Palestinians to engage in dialogue, develop leadership skills, and see where each other come from. I follow international politics and world news as much as I can. I enjoy learning new things and hearing new perspectives.
I want to engage with other people who desire peace in the middle-east and who believe there is a realistic road to peace. I want to exchange ideas about what the best road to peace is and how we can get there together.
