Profile Information

My personal story:
I am a teacher in a small town in California's Mojave Desert.
Why I want peace:
I am tired of conflict, and the hate and destruction that it brings.
Interests and activities:
street and dirt bikes/ hiking in the mountains and deserts near my home/ reading, especially spirtual issues, Judaica, Buddhism, history/ studying Hebrew and Aramaic/ Rabbinic literature like Talmud and Midrash
Something you didn't know about me:
Nothing much about me is hidden....I'm pretty much an open book.
How I found mepeace.org:
I found it while looking up some information on MLK.
What I want to achieve here:
I am interested in educationg a new generation in the ways of peace and ethical behavior. To do this, we need to let go of many of the negative issues in our own past.

I thought I would find like-minded people here, and I have. But I have also found that some of the more active posters seem to be here to engender conflict and hate.
Do you promise to respect others and our guidelines and not spam?
Yes

What is Peace?

Posted on May 10, 2009 at 12:50pm 0 Comments

Former US President John F. Kennedy said it best in an address to the UN General Assembly in 1963:

"But peace does not rest in the charters and covenants alone. It lies in the hearts and minds of all people. So let us not rest all our hopes on parchment and on paper, let us strive to build peace, a desire for peace, a willingness to work for peace in the hearts and minds of all of our people."

The following is from www.groundreport.com and is only one of many articles online that document the violence in Pekiin, Israel.

The Pogrom of Peki'in, Israel

The Druze community of Israel consists of 120,000 members and resides mainly in the Carmel, Galilee and Golan Heights. Since 1957 the Druze have been drafted to the IDF. Until today over 300 have been killed in active duty. It is therefore no wonder that PM Ehud Olmert announced that the recent events in… Continue

Israeli Peace Education

Posted on April 30, 2009 at 7:48am 2 Comments

Someone recently posted a picture of Israeli children writing their names on shells, entitling it in incendiary fashion with the words "Jewish Peace Education." The next day, it was changed to "Israeli Peace Education."

There were many thoughts that came to mind. One thought was this: Wouldn't it be just as possible for anyone to find a picture of an Arab Palestinian reveling in a terroristic act against Jews and… Continue
