I am the executive director of The Israel Palestine Project.
We are committed to an equitable and enduring peace between Israel and Palestine. During two weeks in the West Bank, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, I saw the source of the conflict being the conflicting and opposite national narratives of the two sides, and determined to cause the creation of a common historical narrative. With a support team of 4 people, A major in the IDF and a Palestinian journalist worked together every Sunday morning for a year and created, in dialogue, a 21 section common narrative starting with ancient times through the recent Israel/Hezbollah/Lebanon war.The first 8 sections are edited and approved by historians Moshe Ma'oz of Harvard U. and Dr. Adel Yahya of Jerusalem. This narrative is available for viewing on our website www.israelpalestineproject.org An introduction to the narratives is first, followed by the opposite and contradictory narratives then the common narrative. This work is copywrited and not available for distribution at this point, beyond the website access.
Why I want peace:
I consider war to be anachronistic as a method of human relationships. I am committed to the viabilty of Israel and Palestine both with neither side dominating the other. The achievment of an equitable and enduring peace between Israel and Palestine would alter the very foundations of relations between the Middle East and the West. An eqitable and enduring peace will open up an era of prosperity, mutual cooperation and the resultant security of the two peoples.
Interests and activities:
Leading the project, history of the Middle East, hiking, gardening, taking care of the land.
Something you didn't know about me:
I live with Leslie,we have 5 feral cats living in our very large backyard.
I want to have the narratives read and responded to. It is important that we have feedback to inform us as to how we are doing given these are intended not as academic works but a popular story acceptable to the mainstream populations of Israel and Palestine.
