a human-rights activist and political prisoner in the former Soviet Union, has continued his human-rights activity since immigrating to Israel 22 years ago.
Why I want peace:
I strive to promote universal and Jewish values of humanism, equality, respect for the rule of law, tolerance, the concept of social justice and peace in the Israeli society and specifically within the Russian-speaking community.
Interests and activities:
Series of joint public meetings between the public figures of the Russian-speaking community and the Israeli Arabs, primarily the graduates of (from) the universities of Russia, Ukraine or the FSU. The meetings implemented in the round table format with the parity participation of the Jewish and Arab speakers and under the guidance of a moderator. The discussions will be held in Russian and should embrace a wide range of topics: from the “life-stories” of the participants and to the urgent questions of Israeli public life which are relevant to both communities.
The meetings held in different Israeli cities, in which the presence of Russian-speakers is massive, with the audience of not less than 50 persons. Stress will be made on drawing youth and students to such meetings.
