Kony 2012 - Generation C getting political to see justice for a war criminal

The following blog is not Middle East related.  But it is useful for mepeace to consider broadly in terms of peace, justice, international law and activism.

Some of you may have heard of Kony 2012.  If you haven't take a look at the following clip and link.

Great TV series on Palestine and Israel - The Promise

Peter Kosminky's The Promise is a 4 part mini-series that provides an outstanding look at one aspect of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Sadly, a smear campaign is being directed against it. The following is my letter of support to SBS TV Australia for this fine production.
It would be great if you could contact your own TV stations to see if you can get it on air.…

Palestine: the world's next nation - sign the petition Avaaz

On the 26 July the UN Security Council will meet, and the world has an opportunity to embrace a new proposal that could turn the tide on decades of failed Israeli-Palestinian peace talks: UN recognition of the state of Palestine.

Over 120 nations from the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Latin America have already endorsed this initiative, but Israel's right-wing government and the US vehemently oppose…

Seeing 1948 through the eyes of British soldiers

Coming to terms with the skeletons of the past is tough for any country.  It is especially tough for Israel.  Massacres, ethnic cleansing are not what nations like to be remembered for.

The British director Peter Kosminsky has recently been involved in the TV mini-series "The Promise".

It is set in 1946-48 British mandate…

The Palestinian perspective - Remembering the forgotten 90%

In Australia Europeans justified invasion based on the doctrine of Terra nullius.  It is a despicable legal trick that legitimises occupation by denying the existence of a people.  Europeans defined people as 'civilised' and claimed Aboriginals were not civilised, therefore they did not fall into the definition of a people.

In the context of Israel and Palestine.  The worst proponent of this terra…

Demonization of the other

Again can I state my concern at members of the community who demonise the other.

If we are to be a site of peace, we need to see ways that we can acknowledge the humanity of the other.

If we are to be a site of peace we need to be able to speak of the pain of both communities and not just our own.

We will get nowhere if we do not do this.

Please join the following group if you wish to engage in merely antagonistic style… Continue
