So I was reading the news that Ahmenidijad is going to the UN tommorow to speak.
It's sad that people think that Iran has nuclear weapons, when in reality, they are using it just for peaceful purposes.
However, the one thing that I am upset about is that the fact that the Iranian President will not sit down and speak to either the Israel Ambassador to the UN, or the Israeli President. Even if they don't agree on anything, I think that it is about time that they talk -- face to face, eye to eye, ear to ear. It is about time they start talking, if they want to progress towards peace.

Hi John!
I think that it is great that you support dialogue and negotiation with the Iranian President.
The only way we will get peace is through dialogue.
At the Presidential debate on Friday, Barak Obama was saying how having no dialogue with North Korea (for example) has not helped us progress towards peace with them. Quite the contrary.
I really hoped that the Quakers that met with Ahmenididijad, helped influence him that most Americans + Israelies do not war with Iran. I hope that they encouraged him to sit down and speak to both the American + Israelies leaders, in order to avoid war or conflict, and resume diplomatic relations, and may we all walk towards the path of peace!

John
"I agree that his statements about Zionists controlling things internationally are fallacious. I think he is politically naive at the very best..."

For those people who say they judge others according to their presumed intent,
to say those statements are fallacious and naive,
instead of malicious and deceitful,
is the same as minimizing his offense.

Nobody forced Iran to show antipathy to Israel. Nobody forced Khomeini to establish "Al Quds Day," or Al Quds Boulevard, after his revolution,
when that has nothing to do with Iran, its history, or its traditions.

Do you have any idea what the Mullahs who really run Iran say?
This isn't just about Ahmedinejerk. He's a spokesman for a whole regime of totalitarian theocrats.
Who condone the execution of young girls for reasons we both consider barbaric.

Hi Hanem! :)
As for the Palestinians, if Iran were to bomb Israel (hypothetically) or send rockets, they may miss and hit Palestinian cities or villages. (Since mistakes are always made during wars, and rockets or bombs getting fired may not be fired in the right position).
As we saw in the 2006 Lebanon, Hizbollah militants hit Palestinian homes within Israel proper (since the Palestinians in Israel were not given bomb shelters like the rest of Israelies-- I have an article somewhere-- I just need to find it!)

Thank you all for your comments.
Yes, I agree with you that I am concerned for both Israel's and Palestine's safety from Iran, and Ahmenididjad's rhetoric is just rediculous.
However, this has mostly been speech. The main party to even inflict war on Iran would be the US--and I don't want the US to inflict war on Iran, since it would be like Iraq all over again (seriously-- do you guys want another war in Iraq or the like?!).
This would not be good for America since many people will be layed off from jobs; the economy would be even worse than it already is (not to mention the economy crashed last week). House foreclosures would be quadrouple.
This would lead to even more instability in the Middle East-- more people will hate hte US and Israel, and then claim about the Jewish bullshit conspiracy (that all Jews rule the world, because of AIPAC's manipulation in the US).
Many innocent people in both Israel and Iran would die. There would also be radioactive chemicals in the area for the next thousand years.
Russia +China may ally with Iran, and lose all diplomatic relations with the US.
The world will no longer be safe-- do you actually want that ?
How should we go about doing this?
Cheers
Stephanie
