Come on, did you really need an attack on Gaza to know what's going on?

For 8 years Israeli civilians who live in such places as Sderot, Ashkelon and various villages and Kibutsim around are under attacks from Gaza.
Saturday morning, and some youth decides, hey, today I am going to make some impression on my friends. Let's fire some missiles on Israel and see what happens. I may even get to kill a child, a pregnant women or an elderly man. YAY!

Who protested?
Who launched international conferences?
Who shouted and organized demonstrations?
Did the security council of the UN assemble with 24 hours of each attack??

NO. They didn't. Nobody protested. No one shouted.

Now, that Israel has decided to stop being the boxing bag of the Gaza strip terrorist you hear all the hypocrites shout.

While I ache with every crying child, while I dream of the day peace will endure and boys won't have to wear uniform - this is impossible to do with a national entity who chooses a terrorist organization for its leader.

This is not a silly numbers game. It is a serious thing. I am sorry that you find it silly. Maybe people's lives are so cheap for you.
Count how many Widows Israel made.
Count how many Orphans Israel made.
Count how many families lost the only person who supports them financially.
Count how many children died.
This seems so silly for you right?

And for some reason, I don't understand how in one post you say Israel's actions are moral and legal and then you post a statement that says:

"We, the undersigned, declare our horror at the violence and bloodshed in and around the Gaza strip.

We join the many thousands who have raised their voice in protest against the continued escalation of violence, which can only lead to further civilian suffering and an increase of the conflict."

So what Israel did is horror and violence and bloodshed but at the same time is moral and legal.

Yes you did explain to me the other day why you think Israel should have done that but did I tell you that I agree with you? did I tell you that it is a moral thing? did I tell you that ending people's lives that simple and then saying Israel is defending itself and its civilians and what is doing is legal and moral?
Are you fooling me or yourself?

Whatever you say and no matter what Israel's reason were:
I say it again and again and again:
if hamas was ever dangerous to people's lives and security, then Israel is 100 times more dangerous and causes 100 more times destruction and violence. If we ever had to ask someone to stop the violence and terror, then we would ask Israel.

Hamas's main purpose is to end the Israeli occupation and violence against it's people. If Israel was good and treated the Palestinians fairly and gave them their rights, stopped building settlements on Palestinian lands, there would be no need for people like hamas.

One thing I always like to confirm, if you kill ALL hamas members, you will find new Hamas come out. BECAUSE ISRAEL CREATED HAMAS. I think you know what I mean here.
The rockets will not stop. They will increase... Not only Hamas will launch rockets now. Many countries are angry at Israel. I see the end of Israel coming soon. They brought the end to themselves.

Hi Marwa,

Please stop playing silly numbers games. Do something constructive.

Sign and the then recruit others to support the JewishVOICES (NSW) Statement about Gaza = 31 December 2008.

One Palestinian friend who helped to craft the statement noted:

"The aim of this statement is to show that we are all appalled and saddened by the current escalation of the conflict and the bloodshed it inflicts on people on both sides. The statement seeks a middle ground which is the minimum accepted by some groups and the maximum expected by others."

lol, you made me Laugh Or-Tal Kiriati,
When has Hamas ever killed 400 Israelis and injured more than 2000 in just 4 days??
Of course people have to demostrate and shout loudly at such events. This is a massacre. This is a war crime. I don't how many Israelis Hamas killed or injured since 1989 but I am sure it is less than the number that Israel killed in just the past 4 days.
I don't see a reason for the Israelis/Jews or their supporters to demonstrate for the rockets that Hamas launch at them everyday because:
1) Those rockets are barely causing any destruction or losses on the Israeli side
2) In all cases the media is pro Israeli and the Jews outside Israel have managed and did a good job at broadcasting the Palestinians as the violators, terrorists, and monsters. So the demonstrations will not add much hate from people to the Palestinians.

Davinca must then be interested in indicating her support now for the JewishVOICES (NSW) Statement about Gaza = 31 December 2008.

Hi Or-Tal.
I share your pain.
I remember when the Second Lebanon broke out in Summer 2006, no one seemed to give a damn about the fact that I had relatives living in Haifa, preying that they would not get killed by Hizbollah rockets. All the attention was put on the Lebanese that died, and not on the Israelies (and even Palestinians for that matter!) that got killed. I was asking, "Where is the UN when millions of Israelis are in fear hiding?" (In fact, I have been keeping in touch with a man whose daughter developed Post traumatic stress disorder. I hope that Hizbollah is not laughing now when they found out how many lives they affected in Israel).
My prayers go out to the people of Ashkleon, Sderot and the Western Negev. I prey for both people in Sderot/Western Negev. I wish that the UN would come and help BOTH Sderot and Gaza.
Lives on both sides are precious, and it's a sin not to help one another.
You have every right to be enraged. I am hear for you if you need to speak :)

But let's be realistic-- the UN is weak and there are many flaws in it. We can't expect a whole lot out of it.

Great article Davinca, Thanks. The writer is spot on.

His key point I think is this: We will know peace only when our leaders stop considering our lives cheap and expendable, and help us create a beautiful, green Negev, free of fear and despair.

Hamas's leaders demonstrably consider "lives cheap and expendable", especially the lives of those people who live in Gaza!

Thank you for helping me learn, Davinca.
