Profile Information

My personal story:
I was born on 26th May 1970 in Lafia, Nigeria to the humble family of Mr. & Mrs. Peter Dadean. I started my educational career in 1976 at St. Williams Primary school, Lafia. Later in 1982, I proceeded to Mada Hills Secondary School, Akwanga where I obtained the West African School Certificate in 1987. In my quest for self-development, I attended a post-Secondary Certificate course in Accounts and Audit at the Plateau state Polytechnic, Barkin Ladi between 1988-1989.

My journey to the Christian Ministry started in 1991 when I was admitted into Ayu Theological Seminary, Kaduna State to study Diploma in Theology. Through thick and thin, I distinguished myself as the overall best student in theology, in 1994.

From 1994-1998, I served as a lecturer and Chaplain at ERCC Bible College, Akasa and ERCC Secondary School, Azuba respectively. In 1998, I gained admission into the prestigious, Jos ECWA Theological Seminary (JETS) for a Bachelor of Arts in Theology (Christian Education). After completing my course work in 2000, I was enlisted into a mandatory Youth Scheme, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), where I served my country as a teacher at the Government Science Secondary School, Nasarawa Eggon.

Because of the love and concern I have for humanity, I conceived and initiated a concept by founding a Faith-Based organization called Faith and Action Gospel Services (FAGS). FAGS is a Non-Governmental, Non-Denominational and Non-Profit evangelically oriented organization working in the areas of evangelism, HIV/AIDS Awareness, Peace-building, mentoring and Youth development. In addition to my work in FAGS, I am a volunteer in so many civil society organizations and a teacher serving under Nasarawa State Ministry of Education.

To professionalize my teaching career, I enrolled at the University of Jos, Nigeria for a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education between 2007 and 2012.

I am a Master in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution graduate of the National Open University of Nigeria.
Why I want peace:
Conflict is one of the most complex issues in Nigeria. Its impact is apparently in every part of the country ranging from religious crisis, acts of terrorism, “Boko Haram” (Western Education is forbidden), Political crisis, thuggery, hostage taking, insecurity, ethnic clashes, cultism, assassination etc.

Statistics has shown that since 1999 to the present time about 15,000 people have been killed in civil conflict in Nigeria. The worst of this conflict has occurred in Jos, the capital of my state of origin, which principal driver is “religion”, Christians killing Muslims and Muslims killing Christians. My heart bleeds on this wanton situation as both religions preach peace, but only in their lips and not in practice.

The Youths are often a targeted group during hostilities in Nigeria. Young people are actively involved in violent conflicts and acts of terrorism.

Nigeria is Africa’s most populous country, with a population of about 150 million, 3 major tribes and about 300 ethnic groups across 36 states and Abuja, its official capital. Nigeria is the most fortunate in its endowment of natural and human resources (mostly youths), yet, majority of its citizens are living below poverty level.
Poverty and corruption are complicated by its great diversity which is also the root causes of conflict in Nigeria.
Interests and activities:
I have a passion for the upcoming generation of young people a generation with high power creativity, a generation with immense potentiality, a generation with great energy, a generation of hope, a generation of enthusiasm and a generation of great future leaders. This largest generation in Nigeria is growing under difficult condition; it faces many social problems including violent conflict.

My interest in peace work is a conceived idea to save this generation of young people from contemporary social ills confronting them, such as: HIV/AIDS and STDs; drug abuse, violence, cultism, crimes etc.

Other reasons for my interest in peace work include:
(i) To undertake an indebt research on the causes of civil conflict in Nigeria and to provide solutions.
(ii) To expose the Nigeria educational sector to basic curricular and concept of peace education.
(iii) To understand the various dimension of peace building process.
(iv) To network and collaborate with peace workers, agencies and organizations that has similar goals of promoting the culture of peace.

I will apply the information, knowledge and experiences acquired in my beloved country and the world at large. Through mentoring, sensitization, awareness campaign, most Nigerians, especially youths would transform their attitude by rejecting wonton behaviour and pursuing the culture of love, peace, harmony and tolerance.

I will like to conclude by adding that I have no grandiose expectation for myself. I regard myself simply as a peace advocate and a servant of humanity, with no aspiration for importance and power. I will be highly honoured if I may be supported to achieve this humble ambition.
