Profile Information

My personal story:
I come from a dual faith background. Christian Mother, Jewish father. He was a non-religious Jew but my grand parents were orthodox. I was raised as a Christian but have great respect for the Jewish Faith as 1/2 my family are Jews.

I also have great respect for those of the Muslim faith.

I live in a city with a large Arab population both Muslim an Christian. We also have a large Jewish population. Things here are peaceful. The cultures respect one another and even during times of heightened difficulites inthe Middle East protests held here have been done without violence.

I firmly believe in Israel's right to exist. What the United Nations did can't be undone. This does not mean I do not care for the plight of of those displaced by this decicion.
Why I want peace:
There has to be peace. I believe the common man so to speak on both sides of the issue want this.

I believe that leaders from both sides have sometimes held agendas that were not in anyones best interest but there own.

Since we can't undo the founding of Israel (nor would I ever see that as a solution), then we need to find a solution that can be lived with on both sides.I am not sure what the solution is but I know one needs to come.
I want endless killing on both sides to stop. When I was a little girl my grandmother to me that that back in her day a Palestinian was a person who lived in the Palestine whether Jew or Arab. Would it not be awesome if this attitude could again prevail? 3 faiths have their roots in the HolyLand. Protecting this heritage is of utmost importance to me. I truly pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Sholem aleichem Patti,

I love your profile stories.

I see that you revisited the "Free Gaza, Israeli piracy, and nonviolence" discussion again yesterday. I hope you had a chance to read my reply to your earlier comment, after it seemed like I was dismissing your honest search for information (that was not my intention). If you haven't seen it yet, you can find it by clicking Here.

m a Palestinian Arab from Hizmeh, a village between Jerusalem and Ramallah. When I was 15 years old I fought against the Israeli Occupation in search of freedom. At that time I thought every Jewish person, whether soldier or citizen, man or woman, young or old, should be killed. I rejected the right for any Jew to live and every Jew was a target. I was just a kid, believe me, and I didn’t understand anything about politics or the Arab-Israeli conflict. I was arrested and sat in jail for 12 years. This was during the first intifada from 1987. At that time nobody talked about peace but only of violence. I matured during my time in jail. I started studying and reading books on politics, literature, poetry, and about the Madrid Conference.

It gave me hope to live in peace and dignity. I learned that violence only breeds violence and that peace is the only solution for the two nations, the only way for both to have a respectful and beautiful future. We live on the same land. We are neighbors. We drink the same water and both pray to a monotheistic God. We must live in peace on the basis of religion for God and land for everyone.
