- All right.. Here it igoes.. I am going to write what I thinbk and feel, and if you don't like it then that's too f****ing bad, since this is the ugly truth that nooone wants to hear!!!
I am an American Jew, who has family and friends in Israel and Palestine, and also several other countries within the region, such as Jordan, Egypt, Iran, Turkey, etc.. I've always questioned what it means to have identity, since my mother is Jewish and my father is Christian. I grew up with a somewhat religious Jewish mother, and a former Catholic father who had several problems with the Catholic Church, yet was neutral when my mother would force me to go to Hebrew school as a kid. I also have Native American ancestry (most likely from the Seneca tribe) on my father's side of the family, and now as an adult, looking back at all of this,
I come to realize that a lot of my different ethnic backgrounds were once at conflict with one another. I think that it is beautiful to see that people in my family that were once at conflict are now living together in harmony. And I am a product of it! :)
I used to love going to synagogue as a child-- I used to love hearing the rabbi's and the cantor's beautiful voice, and how their voices lead me to a beautiful eden.
People find it ironic that I identify as a Jew, yet I don't believe in God (I stopped believing in God when I was 16, after reading this quote:
"I don't know if God would agree with me, but believing in God is kind of unimportant when compared to believing in yourself. Because if you go with the idea that God gave you a mind and an ability to judge things, then he would want you to believe in yourself and not worry about believing in him. By believing in yourself you will come to the conclusion that will point to something." ~ Billy Corgan
I was very active in the Refrom Movement of Judiasm youth movement, North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY), which really helped me learn to love being Jewish, and be an activist towards Israel and the underdog.
After visiting Israel for the first time in 2003, it really saddened me that both Israelies and Palestinians were segregated. I always imagined Israel to be this blissful place. I didn't understand why Israelies acted so rude (seriously they need to be taught some manners!!). When I went again in 2006 with Birthright, many of the Israelies that we met told me that they would not hang out with Arabs, and were told that they could only say "hi" to them. Even my own blood related relatives said this as well!!!
How can we expect peace if there is no dialogue?! The only way we can expect peace to occur is via dialogue. it is the key.
I just started an interfaith/students for peace group at my college.
I want people to realize that the governments on both sides are responsible for the violence, and it's mostly the religious extremists on both sides that are ruining it for everyone.
I am also a member of Union of Progressive Zionists, which I really enjoy, and hope that the new American Pro-Israel/Pro-Palestinian-- which will finally bring peace to the land along with justice for all Israelies and Palestinians. I also support anything that is just pro peace and love! :)
Life is ever changing. I've noticed that just even the last few months, my viewpoints have changed being on here. I am learning so much and bound to try new things. I hope this never ends.
I am starting to hate nationalism, since at a global scale, it's a type of institutionalized discrimination.
I am starting to hate capitalism too. I don't like the idea of one person sitting in their office. Society in general is full of discrimination, and it is (unfortunatly it's apart of human nature). through my heart and effort I can help others.

After reading this article, it made me feel worthless; a punch in the face to all people that are working towards peace and reconciliation, making it sounds as if it is/was a joke!
I found this article to be offensive, making it sound like dialogue is counter productive. I personally feel that dialogue will bring people together (maybe not necessarilly their governments), and dispell the stereotypes, racism, hate that they had been taught, and come to see the other side as human… Continue

Investing in Peace

Currently there as been a lot of BDSM (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions Movement) towards Israel, along with an academic and cultural boycott. I don't mind if people-- schools, institutions, goverments, companies, etc. are divesting from companies that are invested in the violence, oppression and or occupation (on BOTH sides-- since I feel that both sides are responsible in one way or another for the violence, and current state of affairs within Israel and Palestine, but also with Israel and… Continue

Finally, human rights groups are admitting that Hamas should be responsible for the war crimes and damages that they have done to Israelies in Southern Israel.
I think that people need to realize that both sides are responsible for the violence-- it's not a one man's act, and both the Israeli government and Hamas should be held responsible for the autrocities that they have done.

Israelies and Palestinians Playing Soccer?

I happened to encounter this video on a blog.
This video could be construed as degrading and demoralizing, but I decided to see the good in this video.
Despite the wall, they could all play a good game of soccer.
But I still did not like how they did not show the Palestinians, making it sound as if they were not human.

We should follow the nature's rule,God has given us a human life not for destruction but to look after the wellbeing of all living life so that peace and harmony can establish in this planet.
