One year after Operation Cast Lead, during which the Israeli government killed more than one thousand civilians and drove 100,000 people from their homes, Elie Wiesel is asked by Holocaust survivor Hedy Epstein to visit Gaza, and to witness to the conditions there.

Immediately after expressing the view that. "If you learn together, nothing but good things can happen," Wiesel dismisses out of hand the idea of visiting Gaza.
