The partnership of a Palestinian-Jewish Dialogue and 85-year-old camp brings together in the California mountains 140 Muslims, Jews and Christians of all ages, including from Israel and Palestine. ...
Yes, there are many more camp-like programs for Middle Eastern Palestinian and Jewish youth than most people would imagine -- Building Bridges in Colorado, Hands for Peace in Illinois, Creativity for Peace in New Mexico, Peace It Together in British Columbia, Canada, Kids for Peace, and yes, Seeds of Peace in Maine. They all have Web sites where they tell their stories well.
Seeds of Peace has a similar camp in Maine, where both Israeli and Palestinian teenagers were there. I worked with Seeds of Peace in Israel, to set up home visits between Israelis and Palestinians. This was really the first opportunity they had to speak to each other, and to do so about everyday normal things in their lives. These people are so separated from each other, that it very easily feeds the prejudice they can develop.
