The relevance of Gingrich's comments - both at the time he said them and now - is how principles are dismissed in the interests of power. When as you know the true mark of an individual is the ability to maintain one's principles despite the temptation to ignore/deny them in the interests of acquiring or maintaing power.
The given is that Newt Gingrich is out of the U.S. presidential race. What he says and believes now is just strictly that of a private individual. Gingrich is not a player of U.S. foreign policy, so what he states now is irrelevant. He was making comments like that to get contributions from wealthy Jewish donors, but he could have realize that American Jews very much pay attention to all events in the Middle East, including those pertaining to the Palestinians.
